The 167-year-old company is approaching its 60th year of ownership by the Nelson family, and Robert A. Nelson, who recently received Candy Industry's 75th Kettle Award, has been part of its leadership for three decades.
The event, which was held for the first time since 2019, also honored nominees Judy Hilliard McCarthy, formerly of Hilliards Chocolates, and Mark Schlott of R.M. Palmer Company.
For the first time in the event’s history, attendees have the chance to purchase a ticket for the Kettle Awards formal dinner, which follows the public reception.
The event was originally scheduled to take place in May in Chicago, but it has been rescheduled after the NCA’s Sweets & Snacks Expo also was rescheduled.
Ted Cohen, former ceo and owner of Hillside Candy, recently received the 74th Annual Kettle Award for his work in the industry — including his vital role in advancing sugar-free hard candy.
