Fun Friday: Hersheypark coaster rides with Shaq, Prospector Popcorn hits a home run, manly cereal pumps up breakfast time
Not just a soccer legend, David Beckham also is a sweet-hearted snack star.

Soccer star offers sweet support
Global soccer (or football, if you prefer) star David Beckham recently drew inspiration from his home apiary (which he tends with his brood) to launch BEEUP, a honey-based fruit snack brand. Now, the former athlete is pairing up two of his passions with BEEUP becoming an Official Partner of Inter Miami CF Academy. The snack will support the youth soccer program by sponsoring games, tournaments, and team events throughout the year. "When I speak to young people about playing soccer, I always say that the two most important things are to work hard and have fun, and that is what BEEUP is all about,” notes Beckham.
Shaq gets spooky with Hershey
Courtesy of The Hershey Co.Speaking of sports legends, former NBA superstar Shaquille O’Neal is lending his likeness and larger-than-life personality to Laff Trakk, an indoor coaster at Hersheypark. Situated in Hershey, PA, the theme park gets spooky for Halloween during its Dark Nights event (running weekend starting Sept. 12 and ending Nov. 2). For the season, the glowing coaster will be festooned with a themed overlay based on Shaq-A-Licious XL Gummies. According to the candy company, the overlay will include special graphics, lighting, and “enhanced audio-visual treatments,” including voiceover narration provided by Shaq himself.
Fans of minor league ballers the Hartford Yard Goats will have one more option when they get the munchies at games this year. Prospector Popcorn—a gourmet brand that gives people with disabilities the opportunity to pursue gainful, fun employment—will be sold at the stadium’s concession stands. Fans watching the team (a Double A affiliate of the Colorado Rockies playing in the Connecticut burg) will have two flavors to choose from: Classic Caramel, and Cheddar & Caramel. Each order is popped, baked, flavored, and packaged by the producer’s staff, aka “Prospects.”
See’s Candies goes to the dogs
While the people behind See’s Candies are known for their love of hand-crafted sweets, the team at the candy company also loves animals. In a post tagged #Dogust and shared on its social accounts, it announced that for the entire month, visitors to its retail stores will be invited to donate to the Los Angeles-based 15/10 Foundation, an organization that helps shelter dogs with special medical needs more adoptable. See’s also will offer limited-edition 1-lb candy assortments (for humans only), its latest Doggie-ettes toy, and a dog-safe treat for four-legged customers to celebrate the month and support the shelter. Pictured here is Stella, See’s canine executive officer, on the lap of President/CEO Pat Egan (sorry to cut you off, Mr. Egan, but Stella is the star, TBH).
Big bowl of manliness
Courtesy of Man CerealOn social media this week, images of a product simply (and perhaps mysteriously) named “Man Cereal” popped up here and there. With many commenters thinking the product was a joke made for solely for meme-ing, nutritional supplement news site Stack3d offered up a scoop—while the product doesn’t exist yet, the nebulous forces supposedly behind the product have a teaser website, and Stack3d scared up a few details: the breakfast treat reportedly will offer 16g of protein, 1g or less sugar, and (an alleged cereal first) 2.5g of muscle-boosting creatine per serving. SF&WB will keep an eye on the Man Cereal and alert (or would “warn” be a better word?) readers of any updates.
