The Peanut and Tree Nut Processors Association (PTNPA) will host an event on Oct. 22 in Washington D.C. to celebrate National Nut Day and highlight the nut industry’s economic and community contributions.
The event will include the launch of PTNPA’s first “Nut Numbers” economic impact report, which outlines the financial footprint of the U.S. nut processing industry and its suppliers. According to PTNPA, the industry supports millions of jobs and contributes nearly $100 billion annually.
“National Nut Day is a terrific opportunity to bring together industry leaders, influencers, partners, and policymakers to focus on and celebrate the nut industry,” says Jeannie Shaughnessy, CEO of PTNPA. “Our members are proud to offer nutritious products, drive food safety initiatives, and lead sustainability and philanthropic efforts.”
The Capitol Hill Networking Reception will take place from 5:00–7:00 p.m. at the Rayburn Foyer, Rayburn House Office Building. If the location is unavailable, PTNPA will announce an alternative venue. The event will proceed regardless of federal government operating status.
Reception partners include:
- Almond Alliance
- American Peanut Council
- American Peanut Shellers Association
- American Pecan Council
- American Pistachio Growers
- California Walnut Board
- Hazelnut Marketing Board
- The Peanut Institute
- World Macadamia Organization
