Wixon reveals trend-inspired flavors at IFT FIRST
The products can be used for proteins, desserts, beverages, and more.

Custom flavor solutions supplier Wixon has launched three new flavors at the annual IFT FIRST Meeting & Expo in Chicago. Attendees were invited to taste the Black Mint, Charred Pineapple, and Manzano Pepper flavors in a creative menu of applications. Each flavor is based on a macro trend currently influencing food and beverage innovation, including snack and bakery products.
“The Black Mint aligns with the growing desire from people for naturalness and the potential benefits of functional flavors,” explains Rachael Jarzembowski, Wixon marketing manager. “While the Charred Pineapple is a complex, layered flavor with a culinary appeal that signals quality, craftsmanship, and authenticity. It’s familiar yet elevated. Finally, there’s the Manzano Pepper, a globally-inspired flavor that’s true to its South American origins with a fiery, fruity profile that delivers flavorful heat.”
According to Datassential, all three featured flavors were “loved or liked” by more than 40% of consumers who have tried them. Executive Chef and Culinary Manager Ryan Kukuruzovic describes the new flavors as bold, balanced, and bright. “They reflect increasing consumer interest in novel taste experiences,” he says. “People like exploring different cuisines and uncovering new flavors, yet they still want a hint of familiarity. The new flavors are both exciting and approachable.”
According to the company, tasting notes for each follow:
- Black Mint – aromatic and herbaceous, it’s a distinctive flavor that combines basil-like earthiness, bright citrus, peppery notes with subtle anise and a hint of spearmint freshness. It enhances savory dishes, drinks, sauces, and meats.
- Charred Pineapple – juicy tropical flavor balanced by rich caramelized sweetness and lightly smoky, char notes with a hint of citrusy brightness. Its umami-like depth creates a versatile flavor that elevates sauces, salads, proteins, beverages, desserts, and more.
- Manzano Pepper – bright and crisp reminiscent of a spicy apple. Vibrant citrus notes and fruity sweetness balanced by a bold, refreshing heat. Its fruity sweetness and moderate heat make it ideal for any application that requires a touch of piquancy.
