McKee Foods’ set to bring back Drake’s snack cakes
McKee Foods Corp., the new owner of Drake’s snack cakes, says it plans to bring back Coffee Cakes, Devil Dogs, Ring Dings and Yodels in mid-September. The company still is deciding whether to bring back Funny Bones.
Collegedale, Tenn.-based maker of Little Debbie snack cakes purchased Drake’s cakes earlier this year from competitor Hostess Brands Inc., which went out of business in 2012.
Drake’s snack cakes will be available in the same Northeast markets where they previously were sold. McKee is using its own baking plants to make the snack cakes, but says no changes will be made to the products.
