Technology Snapshot: Wherefour traceability and ERP software has made inventory management between producers and copackers more efficient by adding optional information sharing along with new billing and shipping options that reduce the need for manual entry.
One new time-saving feature allows producers and copackers to view each other’s inventory online saving time spent emailing, texting or calling, said Matt Brown, founder and CEO. Wherefour allows copackers to create accounts for clients that authorize them to check the inventory on hand for their products. Producers can also allow the copacker to check and request inventory available at their facilities. This feature is fully mobile allowing copackers and producers 24/7 access from any device, Brown said.
Additional ordering and shipping options also eliminate the need for manual entries when multiple locations are involved. Purchase orders and other orders can be billed to one facility, customer or vendor and shipped to a different facility, customer, copacker or vendor via drop-down lists. “Customers told us this is something they would like to see Wherefour do because some of the common accounting software packages automatically make the billing and shipping addresses the same,” Brown said. “That means doing a lot of manual entry if they’re not the same, and this new feature saves time because that’s no longer necessary.”
