Ajinomoto brings hane-style gyoza to U.S.
The frozen dumplings, popular in Japan, can now be found at major retailers nationwide.

Starting October 1, 2025, Ajinomoto Foods North America (AFNA) is introducing Japan’s top-selling hane-style gyoza to U.S. grocery stores. The product is now available at Walmart and Albertsons, with distribution expanding this fall to Kroger, Wegmans, and other retailers.
Ajinomoto’s hane-style gyoza features a thin wrapper, a crisp bottom formed during pan-frying, and a filling made with meat and vegetables. The dumplings cook in approximately 10 minutes without added oil.
AFNA is part of the Ajinomoto Group, founded in 1908 and known for its role in identifying the flavor of umami. The company produces frozen foods and meal solutions that reflect Japanese and Asian culinary traditions.
“Our hane-style gyoza is more than just a frozen dumpling—it’s a beloved Japanese culinary experience, known for its signature crispy ‘wing’ and unforgettable flavor,” said Hiroshi Kaho, President and CEO of Ajinomoto Foods North America. “By bringing it to U.S. grocery aisles, we’re inviting consumers to share in the joy that has captivated Japan—from the fun of hearing it sizzle in the pan to that first perfectly crisp bite. It reflects Ajinomoto’s commitment to enhancing everyday meals with high-quality, flavorful foods that nourish well-being and spark delight.”
The product will be available in pork and chicken varieties, made with proteins, cabbage, garlic, onions, and other seasonings. Each 10.7 oz bag contains approximately 14 dumplings and has a suggested retail price of $7.99.
Ajinomoto will conduct in-store tastings beginning October 23 at select locations in U.S. cities including Dallas, Denver, Los Angeles, Chicago, and Boston.
