Tate & Lyle fiber receives prebiotic verified certification
The accreditation is designed to recognize brands that meet rigorous standards.

Tate & Lyle, supplier of ingredient solutions for snack, bakery, and confectionery products, has received NutraStrong Prebiotic Verified Certification for four product lines within its prebiotic fiber portfolio, recognizing the strength of its science-led approach to prebiotic fiber innovation, the company says.
Tate & Lyle is a member of the Global Prebiotic Association (GPA). GPA recognizes and endorses the standards offered by the global NutraStrong Prebiotic Verified Program.
The certification provides independent, third-party verification against recognized scientific criteria. It is designed to recognize ingredient brands that meet rigorous standards for scientific substantiation, quality, and transparency. It covers Tate & Lyle’s Promitor Soluble Fiber, Sta-Lite Polydextrose, Euoligo FOS, and Gosyan GOS product ranges.
Tate & Lyle’s fiber portfolio is supported by a strong body of scientific evidence, it says. For example, Promitor Soluble Fiber is reportedly backed by more than 20 scientific studies and there are hundreds of studies across the full breadth of the portfolio. NutraStrong certification builds on this foundation, providing customers with independent verification of the quality and scientific substantiation behind Tate & Lyle’s prebiotic fiber solutions, the company says.
The verification process included:
- Product specification and analytical review
- Confirmation of ingredient dosage supporting a prebiotic claim (including at least one randomized, controlled trial demonstrating microbiome modulation and a resulting health benefit)
- Verification of laboratory and manufacturer accreditation.
The certified ingredients support a range of substantiated benefit areas, from digestive health to mineral absorption for bone health, cognitive function, immunity, glycemic control and satiety.
As demand for fiber-enriched and gut health-supporting products continues to grow, this certification gives customers added confidence in using Tate & Lyle’s fiber solutions across a wide range of applications, from beverages, dairy, and bakery to snacks, cereals, bars, and supplements.
“The Global Prebiotic Association (GPA) congratulates Tate & Lyle on this achievement. GPA has been involved in this certification development, designed to elevate prebiotic products and suppliers who have clinically validated, dose-dependent substantiation,” notes The Global Prebiotic Association's Executive Director Len Monheit.
“This certification recognizes the strength and depth of the science underpinning our fiber portfolio and our continued commitment to advancing evidence-based nutrition,” says Katie Adolphus, nutrition science lead, fibers, Tate & Lyle. “The efficacy assessment confirms that each ingredient functions as a prebiotic and identifies the dosage range or minimum dose at which this effect has been demonstrated.”
“For us, fiber innovation starts with human health,” Adolphus adds. “It must be grounded in credible science, translated responsibly, and ultimately delivered in ways that make a meaningful difference to everyday diets, without compromising taste. Independent verification like NutraStrong reinforces the quality, transparency and trust our customers expect from Tate & Lyle.”
“We would like to congratulate Tate & Lyle on this achievement—the company’s commitment to both the quality, transparency, and robust science required for prebiotic certification across their broad, global portfolio and sites serves as an example to the industry,” says Kevin Yan, VP of product certifications at SGS Nutrasource. “The NutraStrong program is reserved for best-in-class branded ingredients and we are delighted to welcome Tate & Lyle to our ranks during what can be only described as the era of fiber. In a crowded and rapidly evolving fiber landscape, certification brings much-needed clarity, credibility, and confidence—for both brands and consumers.”
“It’s exciting to see independent recognition of the science across our entire fiber portfolio at a time when demand for fiber-enriched products is accelerating globally,” says Fernanda Covarrubias, global marketing manager, fibers at Tate & Lyle. “We’re seeing strong momentum not only in consumer interest in gut health and fiber claims, but also in how fiber is being formulated into a broader range of everyday foods and beverages, Our role is to help customers translate complex nutrition science, regulatory landscapes and formulation challenges into products that deliver both on health and on consumer experience.”
“At Tate & Lyle, we’re enabling the industry to unlock the full potential of fiber—combining consumer insight, label perceptions, and decades of application expertise to create great-tasting products that support sustainable, daily fiber habits,” Covarrubias adds. ”Ultimately, it’s about making fiber more accessible, enjoyable, and effective for consumers worldwide.”
