Mondelēz releases seventh annual State of Snacking report
The findings are a collab between the CPG company, Mintel, and Black Swan Data.

Mondelēz International's State of Snacking report is a global consumer trends study examining insights on how consumers make snacking decisions. The seventh report reveals the snacking landscape in 2026 is defined by a series of productive tensions: health and indulgence, nostalgia and novelty, solo convenience, and social connection. Consumers don't want to choose—they want it all, the snack and candy company says.
The 2026 State of Snacking report—a collaboration between Mondelez International, Mintel, and Black Swan Data—reveals a global consumer landscape where snacks have evolved beyond just bites between meals, Mondelez International says. Combining Mintel's consumer survey expertise with Black Swan Data's AI-powered social listening and predictive analytics, the report aims to offer a comprehensive look at snacking frequency, occasions, and motivations across key global markets.
Key findings include:
- Six in 10 consumers in select global markets snack at least once a day
- Two in three consumers from select markets say snacks are necessary socializing with friends or family
- One in four consumers who eat snacks or confectionery in select markets are eating more in 2025 than before
- Approximately 50% of consumers in select global markets occasionally replace meals with snacks
- Four in 10 consumers who snack look for healthier snacks at least some of the time
