Carvel turns dessert fails into free treats

We've all been there: the dessert looked unreal in the photo, and what showed up was a half-melted letdown. This National Ice Cream Day (July 19), Carvel is turning dessert fails into free ice cream on a mission to rescue 500 dessert disaster victims. The brand is giving its patrons a second shot at dessert done right, inviting them to submit photos of their most disappointing frozen treats for the chance to be rescued with a free Carvelanche, Carvel's newly relaunched mashup of soft serve piled high with an avalanche of mix-ins such as cookie dough, Oreo pieces, and more. Through July 24, customers can submit a photo of a dessert disaster here, with 500 winners receiving a gift card for a free small Carvelanche.

FAT Brands' Pretzelmaker has launched its new limited-time Sour Patch Kids Watermelon Lemonade, available in both regular and frozen options. Featuring the bold flavor of Sour Patch Kids Watermelon mixed with refreshing lemonade, it pairs perfectly with Pretzelmaker's signature Pretzel Bites for the ultimate sweet-and-salty snack, the brand says. The drinks will be available at participating locations through August 30. Since getting its start in 1991 as a single pretzel stand, its patrons have loved snacking on Pretzelmaker’s fresh-baked, hand-rolled Pretzel Bites and sipping on lemonade, the brand adds.

Storck's Werther’s Original is shining a light on the signature smoothness of its Soft Caramels with Soft Caramel Rock, a music-inspired campaign that blends nostalgia, indulgence, and cultural relevance. As part of the experience, Werther’s Original created the Soft Music Machine, a retro-inspired cassette player, complete with soft rock-inspired music and plug-in headphones. The brand is rewarding 200 lucky winners with the limited-edition Soft Music Machines through a social sweepstakes. Through July 31, consumers can enter for a chance to win by following @werthersoriginalus on Instagram, commenting on the official sweepstakes post, and tagging two friends. Winners will receive the Soft Music Machine portable cassette player featuring original Soft Caramel Rock music, plug-in headphones, and a bag of the brand's caramels.

Mike and Ike, a Just Born Quality Confections brand, has unveiled "We Got'chew," a new long-term brand platform and national marketing campaign that introduces Mike and Ike as character personalities for the first time. The initiative marks a major evolution for the brand, it says, transforming its candy beans into character personalities and creating new opportunities to connect with consumers through humor and entertainment. To launch the campaign, Mike and Ike partnered with six-time Emmy nominated actor and comedian Kenan Thompson, the longest-tenured cast member in Saturday Night Live history, to direct creative featuring the brand's characters. The work marks Thompson's commercial directorial debut and includes four hero spots, behind-the-scenes content, and social extensions that expand the world of Mike and Ike beyond the campaign launch.

Just in time for a summer of Minions mayhem, ice cream maker Klimon has partnered with Universal to bring an official Minions-inspired dairy-free dessert collection to theaters nationwide, giving moviegoers a new reason to save room after the popcorn. Available exclusively at Coming Attractions Theatres, Starlight Cinemas, Regency Theatres, Metropolitan Theatres, and select participating theaters across the U.S., the collection features six dairy-free frozen treats inspired by everyone's favorite yellow troublemakers. Theatergoers can choose from four pints, in flavors like Banana Ooh Na-Na, Bello Politan, Ooey Gooey!, and Maple Mayhem, or two sandwich treats: Banana! Scream Pie (a banana frozen dessert sandwich) and Banana! Scream Pie Minis.
