Peatos roars onto the scene with Kroger

World Peas Brand Peatos rapidly gains distribution and new fans

Peatos, a revolutionary new World Peas Brand product by Snack it Forward, has announced its launch in the produce section of Kroger stores nationally, effective in May. With nearly 2,800 stores in 35 states under two dozen banners and annual sales of more than $115.3 billion, Kroger ranks as one of the world’s largest retailers today.

Peatos can be found in the produce department with the retail price of $2.99 for 3 oz. stand-up pouches and $1.29 for 1 oz. single-serve bags. Peatos has two times the protein (4g) and three times the fiber (3g) of Cheetos and boasts clean, non-GMO ingredients with no artificial colors, flavors or MSG. Striking but familiar flavors include Classic Cheese, Fiery Hot, Chili Cheese, and Masala.

“We are so proud to partner with Kroger, who loved Peatos due to their great taste, broad appeal, and better-for-you positioning,” said Nick Desai, CEO, Snack it Forward. “With taste and cost still by far the two biggest purchase drivers in snacks, World Peas has created something that can give traditional ‘junk snacks’ a real challenge from the produce aisle of Kroger stores across the country.”

After becoming an overnight sensation at Natural Product Expo West in March, retailers and snack enthusiasts are excited about the brand’s rapid expansion. Peatos has also received interest from major airline carriers and foodservice operators. Peatos is also in demand at front-end checkout placement due to its high-velocity mass market appeal.

“Peatos is going up against popular ‘junk snack’ brands like Cheetos, head-to-head on: taste, mass market appeal, and price points-- while offering critical elements vital to consumers, such as better nutritional characteristics, and cleaner ingredients,” added Desai. “World Peas aims to revolutionize and disrupt the $28 billion junk snack industry with a simple but powerful concept: create better junk food by replacing the empty-calorie corn or potato base with nutrient-dense pulses, packed with plant-based protein and fiber.”

“Our mission is to help a vast majority of Americans eat better, and not just the few that shop in the high-end natural channel,” added Desai. “The response to Peatos has been overwhelming and social media buzz is off the charts!”

In addition to Kroger, Peatos is currently available in the produce section at Vons, Pavilions, Albertsons and Amazon. Upcoming retail partners include Safeway and many others.
