Blommer’s Discovery product line, empowered by the sugar-based sugar reduction solution Incredo Sugar, includes chocolate-flavored chips and coatings.

Union Confectionery Machinery and Rabin Worldwide have been named by Blommer Chocolate Company as the exclusive auction agents to sell the assets of their shuttered chocolate plant in Chicago.

The company just announced that more than 250 employees will be laid off due to the closure.

The Chicago facility, which opened in 1939, is the original manufacturing plant of the Blommer group.

The industry leaders will be honored during an October 26 ceremony in Orlando. 

Nearly everyone eats chocolate. Based on Statistia data, approximately 271 million Americans consumed chocolate and other candy in 2020; that’s more than 80% of the U.S. population. 

Curlee was described as “the most genuine, kind, generous, and honest person” by Blommer’s Regional Sales Director Scott Funk.

As part of a planned transition, Peter Blommer will step down from his role as CEO of Blommer Chocolate Company and assume the role of vice chairman, effective Aug. 1.

New additions to Discovery product line will enable sugar reduction in a broad range of food applications.
