This week's Fun Friday starts out with Perfetti Van Melle's Mentos brand bringing back it's "Freshmaker" jingle from the ye olde late 1900's (okay, 1990's ...). 

Doo doo doo doo, doo-doo, doo-waah! Mentos is bringing back its beloved 90s jingle, a tune that defined a generation, was the ultimate earworm, and claimed to help fix everyday problems, even if it was a little cheesy. Decades after it was first introduced, the fan-favorite is officially back, fueled by nostalgia and blending its original magic with a fresh update for a whole new generation. 

Mentos relaunched the jingle on April 1 across social, digital and audio streaming platforms iHeart Radio and YT Music. While it stays true to the original melody which debuted almost 35 years ago, the 2025 version taps into social media influencers Adam Waheed, That’s a Bad Idea, and Aubrey Gavello to bring a fresh perspective while keeping the classic charm intact. 

Whether you grew up singing along or are hearing it for the first time, the return of Mentos’ iconic jingle is a moment to celebrate. Consumers can keep their ears open as new versions of the song are released throughout the summer, including custom lyrics by comedic musicians Carter Vail and Kyle Gordon.


Wendy's reimagines its Frosty with new sauces, mix-ins

Wendy’s is reimagining the famous Frosty with new ways to experience the beloved frozen treat. Consumers can enjoy a fresh take on Frosty with the introduction of Frosty Swirls, which feature new sauces, and Frosty Fusions, which include sauces and various sweet treat mix-ins such as Pop-Tarts and Oreo cookies. Patrons can try out the fresh taste of Frosty Swirls by ordering exclusively in the Wendy’s app. Frosty Swirls will be available nationwide April 15 and Frosty Fusions will follow with nationwide availability beginning May 12.    

Frosty Swirls start with choosing fans’ favorite Frosty flavor then selecting one of three indulgent sauces swirled in the Frosty, with choices like Strawberry Frosty Swirl, Caramel Frosty Swirl, and Brownie Batter Frosty Swirl. 

Frosty Fusions launching nationwide May 12: Wendy's new Frosty innovation doesn't stop with the new Frosty Swirls. For the first time ever, fans can add a sauce and mix-ins for extra flavor with the new Frosty Fusions:

  • Pop-Tarts Strawberry Frosty Fusion is the first time this snacking staple is officially offered as a mix-in for a frozen dessert in the QSR industry, combining Wendy’s Frosty and sweet strawberry sauce with chunks of strawberry-flavored Pop-Tarts Crunchy Poppers pieces.  
  • Oreo Brownie Frosty Fusion features the classic Frosty swirled with the chocolatey Brownie Batter sauce mixed with crunchy Oreo cookie pieces.   
  • Caramel Crunch Frosty Fusion blends the classic Frosty with crunchy toffee pieces and a sweet caramel sauce.   

All Frosty treats will be served in a newly designed cup with a domed lid, perfect for dipping a Hot & Crispy Fry. For consumers who use spoons, Wendy’s created a new, custom blue Frosty spoon specially designed for the best experience.


Butterfinger partners with Borderlands 4 on sweepstakes

Ferrara's Butterfinger brand is teaming up with 2K Games and Gearbox Software to help players Game Better with Butterfinger and gear up for the launch of Borderlands 4 in September via PlayStation 5 (PS5), Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Butterfinger is partnering with the looter-shooter to sponsor fan-favorite streamers, release the epic Game Better with Butterfinger sweepstakes with a fresh twist, and introduce gamers to the new Salted Caramel Butterfinger.

Now through July 31, the Game Better with Butterfinger sweepstakes will enhance the gaming experience by selecting weekly winners who can unlock epic merch items and prizes at GamewithButterfinger.com, including:

  • Borderlands 4 Game Codes: Break free from a dangerous hidden planet as one of four new Vault Hunters. The most ambitious Borderlands title to-date delivers more looter-shooter Mayhem than ever before. Coming September 2025.

  • Gaming Gear: Butterfinger branded custom controllers, drones, and more
  • Salted Caramel Butterfinger Swag Kit: Complete with custom sweatshirts, yellow bucket hats, branded socks, and the all-new Salted Caramel Butterfinger
  • Cash prizes, coupons, and more

To participate, players can simply purchase a participating Butterfinger, Crunch, Baby Ruth, or 100 Grand product and type in the UPC code at GamewithButterfinger.com, while supplies last. To support the sweepstakes and partnership, Borderlands and Butterfinger fans will also be able to play Borderlands 3 alongside their favorite Twitch streamers to prepare for the new game release in September.

World McDonald's Day took place on April 15, which means it's the perfect time for a story about the nation's McDonald's preferences in 2025.
 
According to the Most Popular McDonald´s Food by State—a study on consumer preferences and trends in America conducted by Holiday Calendar—McDonald's Chicken McNuggets emerge as the nation's favorite, ranking first in 17 states. In close second is the Big Mac, the top choice in 14 states.

The nation's favorite McDonald's food (ranked in order of popularity in 2025) includes:

  4. McDonald's Quarter Pounder

More Oreo goodness: Cherry Blossom Matcha Thins

Mondelēz International's Oreo brand announced on its Facebook page that it has debuted Cherry Blossom Matcha Thins. The catch: the company only made a small batch, and consumers have to enter to win a pack here.

This is how it works: Beginning on May 15 at 10 am PST, Oreo will be giving away 1,000 free packs of this small batch flavor of Thins. Interested consumers must register by May 9 to participate, and will be sent an email with a discount code number to use at checkout (consumers only pay for shipping; the estimated shipping charge is $13, but the actual charge may vary based on location and will be revealed at checkout).
